In May 2023, tragedy struck when Frankie Julia Hough - a vibrant young mother and former Hollyoaks actress - was killed in a road collision that also claimed the life of her unborn daughter, Neeve. The crash also left her two sons, Tommy and Rocky, and her young nephew Tobias with life-altering injuries.
Out of this unimaginable loss, Frankie & Neeve’s Road Safety Academy (RSA) was born. A charitable foundation established by Frankie’s partner and Father, Calvin Buckley and Frank Hough.
The foundation's mission is simple: To change the attitudes of current unsafe motorists and to install a more respectful and safe approach towards road safety in the drivers of the future.
Raising Awareness in Future Generations of Drivers
Frankie & Neeve’s Road Safety Academy raises funds and builds awareness through community-driven, highly visible campaigns. They organise sponsored endurance challenges like their 12-day coast-to-coast walk across England and symbolic events such as a 13-mile memorial walk marking the anniversary of Frankie’s passing. These not only generate donations but also spark conversations about road safety in the media and local communities.
They pair fundraising with grassroots engagement - school visits, interactive VR demonstrations, creative learning projects designed by children, and partnerships with initiatives like Greater Manchester Police’s Volunteer Speed Watch. By combining emotional storytelling with hands-on education, they ensure every event both raises money and reinforces their life-saving message.

Awareness Activities:
Virtual Reality (VR) Programmes
They use immersive VR technology to simulate dangerous-driving scenarios, enabling children and young people to grasp the consequences of dangerous behaviour behind the wheel.
Creative Empowerment
Characters developed by Frankie’s children - Tommy and Tobias - and their class are used as tools to empower young learners to call out unsafe driving by adults.
Engagement in Schools and Clubs
Through regional school sessions and after-school clubs, the academy delivers interactive road safety education across age groups from early years to young adults.
Speedwatch Scheme Support
They support the Greater Manchester Police Volunteer Speed Watch initiative, addressing speeding - one of the main contributors to road fatalities.
Upcoming & Latest Fundraising Activities:

Franki Fest 2025 - Raising £10,119!
On 2 August 2025, Calvin hosted the inaugural Franki Fest, a powerful celebration of life, love, and safety. The festival featured live music, fairground rides, emergency services demonstrations, food stalls and dedicated road safety zones for families and youngsters. Every penny raised supported the Academy’s mission to deliver life-saving education to young people and schools - transforming grief into meaningful change.
Maximising Impact with GivingWorks
“GivingWorks has lifted a huge weight off our shoulders. We can now spend more time in schools, communities, and policy discussions — and less time buried in paperwork. Their support means more lives impacted”, Calvin Buckley.
When Frankie & Neeve’s Road Safety Academy was established under the GivingWorks umbrella, they gained more than a back office service - they gained a partner committed to amplifying their mission. GivingWorks took over the administrative, compliance, and financial management burdens, including:
- Governance and reporting to ensure full regulatory compliance
- Donation management and gift aid processing to maximise fundraising returns
- Financial oversight including transparent accounts and financial reconciliation
This freed up the Academy’s leadership to do what they do best - create safer communities.
